Under leaden skies and coffee brown seas the final races of the winter series were completed in style. Race officer Robin Clifton-Dey set a simple Olympic course for the competitors who braved some fairly miserable weather early on with some robust wind.
First out of the block were the Squibs, Dave McCune has totally dominated this series posting five bullets with five races sailed.
Keelboat wise, Crazeology won the IRC series by not competing.
Having a race officer duty the week previous Helen and James picked up a redress of a second place which proved to be the deciding factor as having gained two first alongside Draig Or Mor their second trumped the Stibb's fourth handing the silverware to the Middleton-Stewarts.
In the PY fleet things were a lot closer, Rick Bruton on Effusion and Nick Masseys's Tumberumba were tied on six points whilst Bill Barker with Flair II lurked two points behind.
After a general recall, a collision and subsequent turns from Massey, plus the heavier weather that suited the big MG's, Bill Barker finished ahead of Effusion and Tumberumba, tied on 5 points with Rick Bruton and after discards came into play , Bill Barker took the trophy on countback.
So now there is just the one race left of the season, the Frostbite and Ice breaker races on Boxing Day with the Dinghy's also having a quick thrash around the bay in a new event for them.
After that the season starts again on New Years Day. Whooppee!
