The WSC Squib fleet are well know for being keen and pushing the boundaries of the sailing season. Well over a decade ago they started the Autumn and Winter series which extended to other classes and has now grown popular amongst Weymouth's yacht sailors, often cited as the best racing of the year.
In 2011 the Thursday September series was started - for the "retired, unemployed and ne'er-do-wells" - and has regularly attracted start lines in the teens.

Last Thursday saw the inaugural race of the Thursday Morning series - new to 2013. A brisk forecast and strong wind warning on the inshore forecast kept some boats away but it was 4 boats who took part with class stalwart, Adrian Patterson, in the RIB. The weather was superb, clear skies and flat water, but with a feisty northerly wind the large gusts and wind shifts kept the crews on their toes.

The winner was the oldest boat in the WSC fleet, 41 Seahorse, who despite making a navigational error managed to round T mark without incident, alas 604 Speculator cannot say the same !
