W Class Sailing 2014

Trouble incoming..A sunny interval!

With a new season's sailing to look forward to, what better venue to announce it than the East Shambles, where I went last Friday in a brief weather window - which still included a 30-knot squall with driving rain!

This year we are building on last season to the extent of having a full Saturday and Sunday racing programme throughout the summer. The normal cycle of Saturday afternoon racing includes regular cup races as well as series racing, while Sundays include what we are calling the Spring and Summer 'Offshore' series of all-day cup races like the Cimbri (round Portland) and Crumbleholme (Shambles) Cups with similar non-cup races to complete each series. As well as the normal cups, a trophy will be awarded for the overall winner of the two Offshore series.

The Solstice Cherbourg race/cruise is on the 20th-22nd June, and will include the option of joining Cherbourg Yacht Club for a trip to St Martin's Bay at La Hague on the Sunday – not to be missed! We are also including passage races to Poole and to Lyme Regis (weather permitting). Together with the usual evening races during the week, there's something for everybody this year, and we hope that everyone will want to join us on the water for the first year of our second century!
