Penny Ross Mackenzie, the club's new Steward.
Penny was appointed recently and took up position on the 5th January as the club steward.
With Ray Capp, who was ably supported by his wife Lynn, stepping down, it was realised that no volunteer could take on the arduous position of Rear Commodore (House) without paid assistance; this is a reflection of the amount of time that the Capps have put into the club during the last three years and for which we are truly grateful.
Primarily responsible for the smooth running of the bar and accountable to Rear Commodore (House), the post includes staff rotas, stock-keeping, cleanliness of the fabric of the building and the general day-to-day smooth running of the club.
Penny has a wealth of experience in the bar and catering trade, having worked in well-known local establishments such as Wester's wine bar in the late 70's and 80's, the Tavern, The Springhead and latterly the Elm Tree.
Some of our older members may recall her father who owned 'Penzephyr' in the 60's and early 70's of which Penny recalls many holidays on as a girl.
Penny is also a keen cook and is a dab hand with a needle and thread - that is when she is not looking after her horse or grand children!
So we welcome Penny to our club and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.
