It already seems an age ago that Saskia VII was picking up the Frostbite Trophy on Boxing Day. After suffering a foresail failure and having to do a head sail change bare headed on the final beat they hung on to take the trophy under NHC.
It was only 3 months ago yet so much has changed in the keelboat class. With the majority of Weymouth Sailing Club boats taking the opportunity to get an IRC ticket, club racing this season sees a new era of keelboat racing starting at Weymouth SC.
It all kicks off with The Spring Series, starting this Sunday 29th March. A series that will last for 5 consecutive Sundays incorporating 6 races. It is an open event where all boats from the area are invited to join us. Half of the Weymouth SC fleet were launched last weekend with the rest of the fleet being launched over the Easter weekend. The Spring Series is a great chance to shake down your sails, exercise the mind and try out your freshly anti-fouled hull. With the spring weather slowly warming up and improving, it’s a great opportunity to get a bit of practice in before the evening racing starts.
