The anchorage at St Martin's bayEnjoying the sunshine at St Martin's bay

You've probably been past St Martin's bay many times and wondered what's in there, is it a good anchorage, etc. The answer is yes, the walks ashore on the end of La Hague are spectacular, and there is an excellent restaurant just up the hill from the bay.

The most convivial way of enjoying the spot is with Cherbourg Yacht Club’s by now customary welcoming of Weymouth crews to their annual BBQ at St Martin's, which was extended this year to the two J97s, ‘Saskia VII’ and ‘Jura’. While this was a first for some people, new WSC member Pierrick Masse was able to use the opportunity to catch up with old Cherbourg friends.

Everyone was agreed that the event was an unmissable finale to the weekend, even if Jerry and co on 'Jura' had to leave to head straight back straight afterwards, while we on ‘Saskia’ drifted back to Cherbourg in the warm sunshine. A big ‘Merci’ to YCC and we look forward to continuing to develop these very positive contacts.
