Cowes Week 2018 and a perfect day out.

Cowes Week NN9

A giant Naval Numeral Nine, the Squib class flag, greeted fourteen members of Weymouth Sailing Club on the Royal Yacht Squadron start line and the sight of a fleet of 100 Squibs celebrating the 50th anniversary of the fleet. What an amazing sight to see the fleet gather and start the race with a strong tide pushing them onto the line - one or two boats who got their timing wrong facing in the wrong direction, and then some hours later to see the fleet under spinnaker completing the course. All the boats were given a blue spinnaker sponsored by AQL and the leading boat in the series was identified by a yellow one. The club members had joined up to support the WSC boats in the fleet – Ghost Rider with Mike and Penny Fenwick, Aldebaran with Peter Jackson and Iain Jones, Quantum with Eddie Harper and Steve Dadd and Jim Mitchell sailing in Rhapsody. Lunch at the Island Sailing Club and a drink at the bar of the Cowes Corinthian after racing with the Weymouth fleet made for a perfect day out. Well done to the National Squib fleet for such a turnout. Final results are available on the Lendy Cowes Week 2018 website. http://www.lendycowesweek.co.uk/web/code/php/main_c.php?map=cw18&style=s...
