Cheerio and thanks
Pete and Ali pulled down the shutter on the galley for the last time after the New Years Day brunch.
As clubs caterer's for the past three years Peter with his wit and cheerful smile have produced food for functions, socials, parties and corporate do's. Club commodore Kathy presented them with flowers and a bottle of gin at the punch party and thanked them for their work at the club and wished Peter a happy retirement.
New Years Eve At The Club
The New Years Eve party at the club goes from strength to strength. Around 80 members and friends, many in fancy dress, enjoyed the warm environment, friendly atmosphere and good food bought in by the revellers. Dancing into the night and early morning was provided by DJ Chris Hogg.

A floatage of Commodores to start Centenary Year!
A glorious New Year's Day saw a good number of boats on the start line, ranging in size from the diminutive 'Echo' up to the awesome 'Keoma'. WSC Commodore Kathy Claydon invited CCSC Commodore Richard Bowers and his wife Debbie, former WSC Commodore Mark Bugler and his wife Rima and Rear-Commodores (House) Ray and Lynn Capp (and me) as crew, so the courtesy halyard was somewhat crowded with burgees!
Disability Sailing
Hugh de Long of Castle Cove SC has contributed the following thoughts on disability sailing. If anybody in Weymouth SC is interested in Hugh's idea, please either contact him directly or contact Peter Hopford.
Following the Paralympics in London, and the Paralympic sailing down here, we were totally inspired. But looking at disability sailing in this area, at the moment, there is disability sailing provided through SailLaser & WOEC for school children, but it seems no opportunities beyond that.

Seasonal Smiles
The weather gods smiled down on a depleted fleet that participated in the Boxing day races. With threats of a force 9 and torrential rain, would be competitors stayed in bed, however a break between two lows scurrying up the Channel allowed race officer Adrian Pattison a small window of opportunity to get a race in.
Winter Winners
Under leaden skies and coffee brown seas the final races of the winter series were completed in style. Race officer Robin Clifton-Dey set a simple Olympic course for the competitors who braved some fairly miserable weather early on with some robust wind.
Holiday Period Racing
Please don't forget the Boxing Day Race, should the weather Gods be kind enough.
The town bridge booking needs to be made before 1400 on Christmas Eve, should you need it.
Also the New Year's Day race will be the first race of the Centenary Year. Join the new Commodore who will be racing Arcsine for this race. This race is open to all YCW yachts.
Those upstream of the bridge will need to exit by last lift 1400 on New Year's Eve, as there are no lifts on New Year's Day. Spaces are available outside the Harbour Master's Office for temporary berthing.
Merry Christmas, Jez
Girl Power
Kathy Claydon has been installed as the new club commodore.
Last Saturdays AGM witnessed Mark Bugler stand down after his three year stint as commodore being replaced by Kathy
