Great turnout for new Squib series

Lively conditions for Ghost Rider

An impressive turnout of 17 boats inaugurated the Squib September Series. With several of the usual suspects absent due to holiday and other commitments this promises to be a popular Thursday evening series.

The weather during the day was a lively 20 knot Easterly but by late afternoon it had dropped to around 15 knots making a lively sea with enough power to drive through it. A windward/leeward was set from X and Inky Finger was chosen to lead a gate start. The sailing conditions were superb and three rounds of surfing and sunshine were enjoyed by all - from teenager to octogenarian !

Having arrived at the Club unusually early (!) Mike and Penny Fenwick on Ghost Rider finished first with Longshot and Cold Fusion close behind. The middle of the fleet experienced lots of place changing with 'lucky' surges pipping places at the downwind finish.

Thanks to Euan McNair and Steve Fraser on the RIB for providing the time signals and keeping an eye on the fleet during the race.

The Bar and the Galley will be open to all members after sailing for the Series. Peter Jackson will be coordinating crew, so please contact him if you would like to sail a Squib in this series.
