On 6th December 2012 the YOB's prize giving at Weymouth Sailing Club took place. Probably the most important evening in the clubs diary as we see the future of our club collect their cups from 2011. Emma Stevenson collected the trophy for the Thursday series 2 from Mark Bugler who won it in 1972 and 1973 as a cadet, beating our current adult sailors, (you never know she could be handing out the trophies in 2052!).
Emma dominated the evening by winning five trophies, four for racing and Cadet Of The Year, she was also voted in as the new Cadet Captain by her fellow cadets for 2012. She replaces Alice Perrett who was given
a special presentation after prize giving for her hard work during 2011 including raising £253.50 by entering the harbour swim on Christmas day and becoming a valued ambassador for the Club at various social events.
James Robb came next in the trophy winners with three racing trophies and Top Boy Trophy.
Sam Mottershead and Cory Ronayne won trophies for long distant racing, Sam in his Topper and Cory in his Laser.
A total of 19 cups were awarded by Mark and Rima followed by a Disco and buffet prepared by Daphne and Michelle Samways.
A raffle of over 40 donated prizes raised £115 which more than covered the cost of the evening and had the youngsters preferring to pick up all the chocolate and soft toy prizes leaving the wine and spirits for the poor people at the end. A lot of the youngsters spent the night playing on the balcony, well it is January the new Barbeque season.
Thank you to all turned out to make it a great night.
