Once a year the Squib fleet has a variation to the traditional 'triangle and sausage' course and races The Great Circle Race. The trophy race involves sailing around all of the inner marks in the Bay. This year, in a brisk northerly breeze, the trophy was won by Mike and Penny Fenwick in Ghost Rider with Mark and Rima Bugler in Saskia V in second and Ernie Lee and Steve Fraser in Jubilation in third place.
The Sunday series continued with a good fleet of 15 Squibs. There has been a lot of scrubbing and cleaning in the yard this week in anticipation of the Squib South Coast Championships. There is a fleet of 60 boats expected to compete. If the sailing conditions are as good as this weekend, it will be a classic regatta.
