Yobs evening at Moatt Sails

Novembers Yobs meeting was held at Moatt sail on Portland. Steve Moatt invited the Yobs to join him at his sail loft to not only see how sails are made but to actually make one.
So we ended up with with a group of youngsters running round with scissors, hammers, hot guns and working on expensive sewing machines. Steve with his usual laid back attitude some how had control over everything that was going on around him and no body even needed a plaster at the end of the night . Steve not only explained how to make a sail but also how a business works with its over heads and why it is important to turn out products on time. During the evening a Jib was made for the club Pico at Steve's own expense. This was an excellent evening with everyone taking part in producing the sail including the art work. Thank you to Steve for sharing his knowledge and time with us ,from the parents as well as the youngsters as we all enjoyed it.
