Saturday night the club took on a Spanish theme for the Dinghy, Falcon and YOB Helpers Annual Dinner which was well attended, beating last year's numbers.. The table decorations were bright yellow and red which is not only the Spanish Flag colours but also the Club colours. Guests were greeted with Sangria followed by a 4-course meal including grilled sardines and traditional paella among the choices on the menu.
Alison and Pete Barlow served up a delicious meal enjoyed by everyone present. One of our dinghy sailors did turn up his nose at a sardine I was eating, telling me he doesn't eat fish. I then asked him want he had ordered for his main course which he answered paella!.
Mark Bugler presented the remaining dinghy cups which did not get presented at the 2009 Club's Annual Dinner Dance and a few 'special awards' were presented to our new sailors and for the odd mishap.
Tim Bowden tried his hand as a stand up comedian and surprised everyone by telling a clean joke.
Tim also reminded everyone there would be a clean up day in the yard on the 17th of April ready for the dinghies to come back in.
The whole evening was organised by Daphne Samways who was thanked by Tim on behalf of everyone there.
