Over February the YOBs have been busy both on the social and sailing front. Freshwater Park was the venue for an enjoyable afternoon of bowling with a range of styles, skill and excuses all on display. It was great to be able to field three teams - enough to create plenty of laughs, banter and competition!
Ruby, Mick and Steve hosted a dinghy theory session in the Longshed over half term. This was an excellent opportunity for some of the less experienced youth sailors to practice essential skills. One of the Opies had been brought into the Longshed and rigged up as a teaching aid enabling the session to cover tacking methods, points of sail and rigging hints. Other aspects of the session included knot work and a reminder of the importance of wearing the correct kit.
Our March events include on the social side "An Afternoon of Archery" organised by Adele on Saturday 7 March 2-4pm. On the sailing front, we have booked the Longshed for Thursday 12 March 6- 8pm. Another practical session is being planned to enable our younger members to learn more sailing theory and some essential kit maintenance skills.
If you are interested in coming to either or both events, please let Steve Staple know. His email is stevestaple@talktalk.net.
