Paralympic sailor visits the YOBs

After sailing with team New Zealand and meeting the French, Friday night it was time for a visit from one of team GBR sailors. Paralympic sailor Megan Pascoe turned out with her brother Sam to coach our Optimists. Not only did this give our youngsters a great lesson in rigging and sailing the Optimists, it also gave me a lesson coaching from Sam.
Our youngsters also had time to ask Megan questions about sailing her 2.4 and thanks to the French team for leaving one in the club, a chance to see one. I was surprised by the YOBS knowledge of paralympic sailing.
Megan and Sam, who started sailing Optimists at Weir Wood Sailing club, took over the younger sailors for the evening and certainly had their hands full.
By the end of the evening we saw a big improvement in technique.
We thank Megan and Sam for their help and hope that they will find time to join us again soon.
