Fire Safety on your boat!

Do you know what type of fire extinguisher you should carry on your boat?
Are they in date and do you know how to use them?

Well, you do now!

Pete, of PD fire and Safety, was invited along to talk about fire safety and, in particular, the importance of having the right type and number of fire extinguishers on board.
A good number of Club members attended with some even getting a free service of their boat's extinguishers.

Pete, always happy to give out advice, said "It's really important to have the right kit on board for fire safety. Escaping gas or fuel can be hidden dangers in bilges. My own granddad, a Weymouth fireman in the 1960's was blown off a boat and into the harbour when fighting a fire and the gas, lying on top of the bilge water, exploded. Fortunately he survived - else I wouldn't be here!"

Ali Ashworth, WSC House Secretary, organised the event thanked Pete and went on to say how pleased she was that many Club members took time out to discuss fire safety and support the Club's event.
