Starry Night Summer Ball 2023 Photos

The Summer Ball may seem a distant memory.....at last a few photos to remind you of a fabulous night! Club members click on this link to access all the photos from the evening. https://wsc.org.uk/node/4630 (member access only)

The idea of a Summer Ball was discussed a long time ago, and thoughts of the Nothe Fort as the venue, seemed maybe a step too far... until a chat with James Farquharson (Nothe Fort Chairman and club member) about the possibility, which resulted in this special event.

Great thanks to him for saying 'Yes' and all the staff and volunteers at the Nothe Fort who helped with the planning and organisation, both beforehand, on the day and during the night itself.

Thanks also to those club members and friends who helped make the event happen, from poster design to practical help moving all the paraphernalia needed to and from the venue and of course decorating in the wind and rain on the day! We couldn't have done it without you all.

The week before was frantic, stuffing party bags, blowing up baloons and last minute decisions about the weather and how storm Antoni was throwing plans of an outside event into disarray! We clung on to hope that it wouldn't rain and blow us off course! As it transpired, plans did have to alter, but I think everyone would agree that the atmosphere inside was transformed for the evening despite the weather.

The Loose Moose caterers supplied an extravaganza of street food and Mr Whippy appearing in the tunnel for dessert proved a hit!

Maurice and The Katz Band were amazing and played all evening with a guest appearance by Paul Browning on bass guitar!

Charlie the caricature artist wandered around sketching and Lilly snapped away all night taking some wonderful shots of people that are available for all club members to take a look at.

The night culminated with the eagerly anticipated Duck draw, a fabulous painting to be won, donated by Kirstine's daughter Phoebe, and finished with the last few songs from the band.

Phew, we made it!
