Autumn series
The club was graced with the presence of the president of Yachting New Zealand Jan Dawson on a flying visit to the club before heading out to Athens for an ISAF conference. Whilst at the club she had the chance to view our facilities, meet with a few of the people that had made her team so welcome earlier in the year, present the trophies for the autumn series and draw the raffle prizes for the YOB's draw.
In some of the closest racing for some time in IRC, the final race of the series witnessed Kay Stibbs (Draig 'O Mor) and James Middleton Stewart (Crazeology) tied for first place, therefore allowing Joel Wood (Excalabur) who finished third to take the series by half of one point. Only one point separated the first four boats.
In the Squibs Iain Jones and Peter Jackson (Speculator) managed a second whilst Mike and Penny Fenwick (Ghost Rider) received a second on redress as race officers. Both boats were tied on eight points but on countback the series went to Iain and Peter.
The YOB's draw takes place every Sunday after racing and this year they are saving for a 420 dinghy. After the experience they gained whilst out sailing with the New Zealand team they are keen to sail on a trapeze boat.
