WSC Annual Prizegiving and Dinner Dance
What a great evening! After the original venue was cancelled unexpectedly, the organisers Josie and Steve Dadd and Sharon May rearranged the annual prizegiving evening on Saturday 15 January 2011 at the Weymouth Pavilion Ocean Room. Club members joined in with enthusiasm and voted the evening a huge success. Photo:Trophy winners show off their silverware
During the meal, members were entertained with videos and photographs of sailing put together by Adrian Patterson during the year and shown on large screens. Commodore Mark Bugler made the traditional speech, this year with the help of his wife Rima and some very fetching headgear, and followed it with the presentation of trophies to the winning sailors. The large quantity of club trophies are collected, engraved and polished and redistributed by Catherine Jacobs and Sue Stowe.
The Vincent Shield is awarded each year for exceptional work in the club during the year. This year the shield was awarded jointly to Iain Jones and Andy Young for their efforts in organising the YCW Henri Lloyd Regatta 2010.
Guests at the evening were The Mayor and Mayoress of Weymouth and Portland Paul Kimber and Helen Carr, Commodores of Royal Dorset Yacht Club Gareth Peaston with his wife Linda, Commodore of Castle Cove Sailing Club Richard White with his wife Angie and Captain of the RNSA Richard Stevens with is wife Jenny.
Dancing to 'Party Animalz' continued until late into the night with members and guests dancing to the lively music.
Many thanks to Steve and his team for all their work. It was very much appreciated by the members and guests who attended.
