Winter Walk from Burton Bradstock

Submitted by sin269

The WSC Winter walk on Sunday 21st January was from Burton Bradstock to West Bay via the golf course and back via North Hill.
It was blustery with a wind rising to a gale but we warmed up with coffee at The Rise in West Bay.
Next walk on Sunday 11th February, Portland and finally one on 17th March from WSC yard.

Christmas Party 2023 Pictures!

Submitted by ali2012

A great night was had by all at the Weymouth Sailing Club Christmas Party on Friday 8th December.

The band "Beat Street" started the party at 7pm with an 80's inspired playlist that got party goers on the dance floor from the off. Great to have some live music and lots of dancing throughout the evening!

Joining the club and my new charter project

Cruising to Cherbourg in September

Dear all,

I would like to share my experience of joining the club this year and tell you all about my new project.

As many of you know, my family and I moved to Weymouth from Bath in February, after many years of traveling down as weekend warriors. Being around during the week and not having to maximize every waking moment at the weekends, we decided to join WSC.

September sojourn in Cherbourg

Submitted by steve

A murky September morning with little wind augured a long crossing of the Channel, but I had already waited a day, and I wanted to race in Cherbourg in the evening, so off I went for my annual September stay in Cherbourg, which this year included visits to Saint-Vaast and Bayeux (on the train!)

Unexpected Company on the Final Cruise in Company of the Season

With the cruising season coming to a close it was a final opportunity for 4 boats and 14 crew to make the channel crossing to Cherbourg. Even though light winds were forecast, Moonshadow, Crystella, Arcsine and Remedy set out pre-dawn on Friday 15th September for what was to become quite an eventful trip, especially for one!

FOWEY REGATTA on Grey Knott 13-18th August

Submitted by Windswept

FRIDAY 11th August

After over 17 years absence from this Fun Regatta, I decided that with anew boat and the right crew it was time to venture there again.

We stocked up the boat ready to leave on Thursday evening, but the fog was so bad we decided best to wait until morning. Set off at 5.30am, thick fog again but decided it would get better once we had left the land behind. Really spooky going round the Bill, just about managed to make out the land. We never saw the lighthouse, bur could just see Pulpit Rock.
