2007 Comer Homes Melges 24 Nationals
From Friday 28th to Sunday 30th September Weymouth Sailing Club was delighted to host the 2007 Comer Homes Melges 24 Championships.
Ten races were contested over 3 days with varied conditions ranging from high adrenaline planing to light and shifty.
Many thanks to Comer Homes for their generous sponsorship. Commodore and PRO Melita Biggs did a great job in varied conditions, particularly in Saturday's light stuff. Thanks also to Terry Goldsmith, Catherine and Peter Jacobs, and Norman Beeston on the Committee Boat, plus the on water RIB team.
We would also like to thank the following members who volunteered their yachts as mark boats: Richard Norris (Anderson Affair), Jeremy Parkinson (Feanor), Phil & Marie Hedley (Spindrift).
2007 RS200 Open
46 boats turned up for the RS200 open meeting over the weekend of 8/9 September. They came from all over the country with the winner, Hamish Calder, coming from Glasgow.The weather was ideal for getting a sun tan, but not very exciting for sailing unless you enjoy the tactical challenge of shifty winds. The first race took place in a light northerly and everybody, including the race officer, expected a change as the sea breeze came in. But it did not happen. The northerly just veered and backed a few times but remained basically the same. The second race was similar, but the third race ended with hardly a zephyr. This turned out to be the discard for many of the leading boats.
2007 Merlin Rocket Open
On Sunday 17th June a bumper turnout of 39 Merlin Rockets descended upon Weymouth SC to take part in the annual Open as part of the Silver Tiller series. Three races where held in a lightly overcast F3-4 out in Weymouth Bay. Well done to Pat and Jill Blake who narrowly won on countback.
Many thanks to all the volunteers; especially to PRO Barry Payne and team who coped admirably with the general recalls, and to Beachmaster Richard Wildman who managed to promptly launch and retrieve an unexpected large number of boats.
2007 Henri Lloyd Weymouth Regatta
As part of the Regatta social programme, a very successful Pirates of the Carribean Regatta party was hosted by WSC and promoted by Mount Gay rum.

The amended date is March 3 starting at 1930 please come along and mingle with our guests, local businesses, government officials, officers from other clubs in Dorset, and this year for the first time, the sponsors of the Feva dinghies. I look forward to seeing you there.

Weymouth Sailing Club promotes sailing in the port of Weymouth.
The club has substantial premises in a prime location on Weymouth's beautiful harbour, moorings for about 120 boats, a dinghy park and a slipway. It is primarily a racing club and runs a full race programme from April to December, but there are also many members whose main interest is cruising. The Club also has an active social programme.
Classes catered for are IRC, Fast and Slow Cruisers, National Squib fleet (at present 33 Squibs are registered), and thriving handicap dinghy fleet. The WSC YOBs (Youths on Boats) have a fleet of club RSFevas and Optimists.
We feel very fortunate to sail in the waters of Weymouth Bay, selected as the venue for the sailing events in the 2012 Olympics.
Visiting yachtsmen are very welcome to come and enjoy our Club facilities. 
The bar and galley is open on Friday evenings, Saturday lunchtimes and evenings and Sunday lunchtimes providing good quality food at a good price. Our chef Peter Barlow is very happy to accomodate larger groups of sailors but it is worth checking with the club in advance.
The clubroom provides an ideal spot to watch the comings and goings in Weymouth Harbour. There is free Wifi use and computer access and up-to-date wind anemometer data.
