OK Nationals 2015

Submitted by php806

Club members Terry Curtis and Gavin Poulloin do the club credit at the recent OK Nationals.

Terry finished an excellent 5th place despite sailing too infrequently this year in the OK. But special mention must be made of Gavin Poulloin's finish of 15th having never having sailed in an OK before! It's never easy on a new boat so hearty congratulations on a fine event which included a 6th place in race 5.

Taking on the Fastnet heroes round the cans (or breakwater)!

The beginning of the YCC Autumn series is a good moment to be here racing on the Grand Surprise again, with Pascal and Alexis Loison in the W class to go up against – I think everyone had them in their sights.

Merlin Rocket Nationals 2015 at Whitstable (Aug 23-28)

Saturday arrivals saw the hottest day of the year - but there was a long wait till the end of the week for the sun to reappear. It was a very wet and windy week in Whitstable - even the oysters were fed up with the rain.

Le Tour des Ports de la Manche

Imagine doing a Round the Island every day for a week, parties included, and you can imagine how tired we were when we finally arrived in Cherbourg yesterday. From flat calm to 35 knots, all in sunny weather, though we had a day off in Jersey when it really blew and rained. Carteret-Guernsey-Granville-Jersey-Dielette-Cherbourg: I found I barely recognised Alderney when we saw it again yesterday!

Cherbourg - How was it for you, then?

Submitted by steve

Some eighteen boats and crews made it across to Cherbourg in very pleasant weather for the summer solstice and the music festival; those who made the crossing by night were able to witness how short the period of darkness is at this time of year; the loom of the sun just travels round from north-west to north-east, and then it's time for dawn again! Worth being out there for, not to mention arriving in Cherbourg in sunny weather for a great weekend of sightseeing, shopping in the market or just wandering around the gardens when the sun got too hot.

Cherbourg Rally June 19th-22nd 2015

It's suddenly less than two weeks to go to the Cherbourg rally! As ever, there is a cracking weekend in store in Cherbourg as well as the race/cruise in convoy on the Friday to get us there. If you've not done the Channel before, this is the time to do it! We welcome boats and crews from all the local clubs, some of whom regularly make this the start of their annual cruise...
